Prototyping

The Development Team is responsible for prototyping designs generated either in-house, by you, or by a third party working on your behalf.

ITL has dedicated prototyping cells designed to be kitted for parts in the same manner as our manufacturing cells.

Most prototyping is undertaken by the Design Engineers, with appropriate elements being handled by dedicated Prototyping Engineers. It is an important part of the ITL philosophy that the Design Engineer is directly involved with the build, thus ensuring that responsibility for design is carried through the development life cycle of the product all the way to manufacture.

Prototype instruments serve several purposes. Where necessary they are used for submission for regulatory testing and following this can be used for evaluation of the market.

Prototype instruments can be used without regulatory approval for further development purposes. It may also be appropriate to consider reliability testing using a prototype instrument. The output of this phase within the development process includes a pre-production cost model and an updated System Requirement Specification. All documentation appropriate for regulatory submission is generated in this phase.
